I'm wondering if anyone else here has repaired their health using organic foods. Things like kombucha beete kvas and other superfoods.I just bought a print copy of nourishing traditions by Sally Fallon.I'm thinking I'll scan it in and upload it to bookshare once I get my macbook. So far just using things like seaweed, coconut oil, & kobucha we've seen a dramatic increase in well-being and energy. We're going slow because that's the only way you can make changes that stick. Would anyone be interested in this book? I've looked and looked and there's no downloadable copy of this book. Some of her ideas are a little weird but you don't have to take everything as absolute truth. Thoughts, reviews? Tiffany
I think it would be very benefitial. I'm also a big proponent of natural medicine. I was c cured of a sickness the doctors couldn't even diagnose by a natural physician, and prescribed certain herbal remedies.
I've always been curious about this kind of thing, but never tried it. Let us know if you get the book uploaded to Bookshare. It'd be an interesting read.
I'd be interested in taking a look at this book. I love the organic and natural things. Right now, all of my toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, face cleanser/toner, shower gel, hand soap, lotion, body oil, etc., are all-natural. I also use all-natural dish soap, house cleaners, etc.
Leann, where do you get such things? For example, what brands do you use?
I buy most of my things from a place called Pure Complexions. The web address is:
http://purebodysolutions.com/
I really love that company. They rigorously test everything before selling it, to make sure that it is truly all-natural. A lot of products say they are natural, but they still contain something that can be a problem. Another thing about Pure Complexions that I really like is the fact that they list the ingredients on everything they sell, and you know what all the ingredients are. It's stuff that you've actually heard of, and things that you can pronounce. LOL
Anyway, some of the things are a little more expensive than stuff that isn't all-natural or organic, but, to me, it's worth it.
Ok, I'll be scanning the book in when I'm mac literate. Aunt and I have been flipping through it and are fascinated. I love all-natural beauty products, Bare Foot Venus is one of my favorites along with Beauty Control. Bfv is quite pricy well they both are really. If you don't want chemicals in what goes in and on your body you certainly pay big bucks. I'm thinking of transcribing or at least uploading things for some pocket money. Teteous I know but it's gotta be done. Tiffany
My mom used much fo the stuff in Sally's book and had great results.
I'd never heard of these particular natural beauty sellers before. Thanks for the heads-up. The Body Shop is another place that has products with natural ingredients, and if I'm not mistaken, the products are made in developing nations, and the proceeds go to benefit them.
As for natural medicine, there's a great website, which I've discussed before on the Zone, where you can find information on just about any holistic remedy and therapy you could think of, as well as the ways to treat just about any condition with holistic medicine. It can be found at
www.holisticonline.com
Funny I'm replying to this topic now, as I'm currently drinking chamomile tea to settle a case of rather severe nausea. lol
Namaste,
Becky
Ah yes, chamomile tea. Good stuff!
It definitely costs a bit more when buying truly all-natural products, but as I said before, it's definitely worth it, at least to me it is.
Peppermint tea helps too. I'm on the morning sickness trail so am using different things to help. I'll be giving this site a look. Hope your tummy settles. Peppermint tea helping. Now for some real food. I wonder how many blind people are out there who use natural medicine and whole foods? There seem to be quite a few here which is nice.Glad I posted this. Do you guys want recipes from the book in the meantime, I can have some read off and post them here. Aunt has Grandpa Cooks sourdough recipe if anyone wants the real thing. I don't usually give out family recipes but this is a relatively small community all things considered. Happy cooking. Tiffany
Hey I'm always interesting in natural stuff, I'll have to go to that site. thanks
There is a really good site called
www.earthclinic.com
It has everything!
i'd be really interested in seeing the book. an oldy but goodie in the whole foods book world i got from la leche league. it is whole foods for the whole family. have used it for years and years and years. also the dr. weil website is great. some of his stuff tastes like crap on a cracker but he does have good recipes too.
To post 1: that sounds interesting and I'd be interested in the book. And to others, cool, I will look up the sites you mentioned. Because I live with my parents, we don't really buy organic or very many fresh foods, but I'm seriously considering if I ever get enough money or my own place, to eat more organic/natural foods and free-range meats. Not only are those foods probably healthier, but I would think they are also more environmentally friendly as well. So I'd really want to eat those kinds of foods.
